Mitten and thumb looms used were used to create this cute little bear puppet.
Mitten pictured is a BEAR, but you could make almost ANYthing with the basic pattern, by making different ears, or no ears so it is a human, or well, let your imagination take you away here! =)
about 1 oz of brown or your color choice Red Heart 4 ply WW Yarn
Basic Body of PUPPET (6 3/4" before adding ears and about 8" if you add ears)
Using 2 strands of brown yarn together, E-Wrap around the loom 4.
Now knit 3 (6 strands) wrap over 1 (2 strands) wrap - this forms a chunky braid row.
E-Wrap again (you will just have 2 rows on the loom now) and knit 6 rows, up to the thumb.
THUMB and FINGER Holes
After you have knitted off the 6th row, carefully remove the wraps from pegs 1 and 2. Thread a 4" piece of matching yarn through those 2 sts, and tie in a knot. This leaves a 'hole' for the thumb. Do this on the opposite pegs numbers 10 and 11, so you can make a 2nd 'thumb'.
TOP OF HAND/PALM
E-Wrap pegs 1 and 2 twice and e-wrap the other pegs once. Knit off.
Continue to e-wrap and knit 1 over 1, for 10 rows from thumb hole to top.
Use gathering method to remove.
THUMB and FINGER
Using the little thumb loom, and 1 strand of yarn e-wrap 3 times around the loom, as you will be using double stitch here. (Lift one strand over 2 on loom).
Knit 12 rows total in this manner (1 over 1)
Remove with gathering method.
PUTTING TOGETHER PUPPET
Flip the mitten hand inside out.
Place the thumb in the hole provided with right sides touching each other, and whip stitch the thumb onto the hand part of the mitten. Finish off, and do this for the other finger, then flip mitten right side out again.

BEAR
Ears - Size H crochet hook scraps of 4 ply yarn
Chain 8
Sc in 2nd ch from hook, then sc in next ch, hdc till the last 2 chains, and sc in those. Ch 1. turn
2 sc in each st across.
End off.
Fold ear a bit and stitch into place on top of head. Make another EAR and stitch that one on.
Stitch face with yarns.
