I've been handsewing a blanket binding around a smallish fleece blanket. It's my first project of this sort and I've made some really rookie mistakes.
You know how a carpenter measures his project, measures it again, goes and cuts his board, and then realizes he's cut it too short? That's what I've done with the blanket binding.
I was so mad at myself. This is something I am giving as a gift and here this will have a little seam about two inches from the end. I guess it will keep me humble, but the little perfectionist in me is having a hay day dancing around in my brain.
When I bought the blanket binding for the project I thought that the edges were fininished and ready to sew on. Nope. So, that's been extra time into the project for preparing the binding before sewing it on. It's a good thing I started the project with a little lead time.
My thread has been tangling and causing me to say a few bad words over the project.
This has been kind of frustrating because my rookie mistakes have made this an everlasting project.
They say that what doesn't break us makes us stronger. I will be Superwoman when I get this fleece blanket finished.
Thanks for reading.
