My blood sugar was high this morning...

I woke up this morning to a much higher blood sugar reading than I am used to.  I didn’t have the greatest supper last night because my dad wanted to go to a buffet for Father’s Day.  It was about honoring him and not so much worrying about what was there for me.  I thought it would be ok.

The buffet was heavy on fried meats like fried chicken and shrimp.  My choices of green vegetables were limited.  I could have had salad, but sometimes I just can’t bring myself to eat the bagged salad mix.  It has an aroma and a taste that I just don’t find palatable.  I would rather eat cardboard.  I may have to eat healthy, but I’m rebellious about giving up taste.

So, I tried to do the best I could.  You just never know though where hidden sugar might be when you go out to eat.  It may be flavoring something you would never dream of putting it in at home.

I tested before I went to bed last night and was higher than I wanted it to be, but I was not overly concerned.  It always comes down.  Last night was an exception though.  It went up by about 30 more points.

This morning I feel kind of tired and I do have a nagging cough from sinus drainage.  I don’t know if either of those things are related to the higher reading or not.  Sometimes I’ll wake up to a higher morning reading if I’ve had a stressful dream, but so far I’m not remembering one.

More than likely I will balance out as the day wears on.  This sort of thing really used to freak me out, but now I’m just trying not to stress about it.  Sometimes diabetes just does what it wants to.  This may be one of those times.  I’ll only get worried if it stays high.

Thanks for reading.
