Before
you head out in a new pair of shoes, try this shoe fit test to be sure you have
the best possible fit.
I received this information from Bite Shoes when I ordered a pair of sneakers from them recently.
It
is great advice for those of us with diabetes, especially.
Here’s
How To Do A Shoe Fit Test:
·
Test
your shoes on a clean, indoor carpeted surface for a minimum of one hour to
give your feet time to be sure of the fit of the shoes. Trust what your feet tell you.
·
Do
this shoe fit test at the end of the day or after you’ve exercised because your
feel swell after activity.
·
If
you normally wear a certain kind of socks, wear them while doing the shoe fit
test. The thickness of your socks
affects the fit of your shoes.
You
know Your Shoes Fit Properly If:
·
Your
feet feel good after the shoe fit test.
·
You
have a thumbnail’s width between the end of your toe and the tip of your shoe.
·
Your
heel and instep are snug, but not tight.
·
Your
arch matches your shoe’s arch pad.
Your
Sandals Fit Properly If:
·
After
the fit test, your feet feel great with no pressure points.
·
Your
toes and heel line up with the fitting line on the top sole.
·
The
straps are snug, but not tight.
·
Your
arch matches the shoe’s arch pad.
I
hope you find this shoe fit test information helpful. I know I did.
A lot of it is common sense, but sometimes we forget the little
things. I might not have gotten a
blister or had my big toe amputated had I done a shoe fit test before walking.
Please
learn from my misfortune.
