SAN DIEGO—Fish might be brain food, but it doesn’t supply the high levels of fuel needed to keep a dolphin brain functioning. New research adds to evidence suggesting that bottlenose dolphins go into a harmless diabetic state during overnight fasting, thereby maintaining high levels of glucose in the blood. The research, presented at a news briefing February 18 at the annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, suggests that dolphins may be a good model for studying diabetes and could offer insights into treating the disease in people.

This is a simple skillet meal. You can use any Thai seasoning or curry you like. There are jars of Thai curry paste on the market of various types, or you can use a powdered mixture. My favorite powder for this dish are Penzeys* Sate Seasoning mix, which is really yummy.

One of the severe complications of diabetes is called diabetic retinopathy
.
Diabetic retinopathy is an effect on the retina of the eye due to the
diabetes, and the diabetes causes new blood vessels to grow in the back
of the eye where they're not supposed to be, and these blood vessels
can detach the retina by actually pulling it off the inside of the eye,
leading to blindness.
