We diabetics don't have to skip the barbecue sauce at the fun summer gatherings. We can make and bring our own with no sugar ... period.
Here's the recipe.
No Sugar Barbecue Sauce Recipe
- 1 minced onion,
- 1 small can of tomato sauce,
- 2 cups of water,
- ¼ cup of apple cider vinegar (one with no sugar),
- ¼ cup of Worcestershire sauce or soy sauce, paprika,
- chili powder,
- salt and pepper
- all spices to taste.
Place all of the ingredients in a medium saucepan and bring to a boil. Then lower the heat and simmer for around 15 minutes. Use as you would any other barbecue sauce.
Play around with the basic recipe and make it your own.
